Oil/Canvas, 24 x 48 inches
Gallery visitors have long admired the exceptional etchings and monotypes of artist/printmaker Deborah Geurtze. It is with great pleasure that we have now added her stunning oil landscapes to the gallery collection. With the same fluidity of her monotypes, Geurtze sings the joy of the wild, natural places that she loves.
A recent commission of three large arched paintings by Geurtze were installed the chapel of Christ Church, Cooperstown, NY. The theme echoed the inscription emblazoned in oaken Gothic letters above the alter. Isaiah 40:11 “He shall feed his flock like a shepherd. He shall gather the lambs with his arm, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”
Geurtze studied painting and printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design and received her BA from SUNY College at Potsdam. She has been represented by the gallery since 1993.
